Anaïs Mitchell and Paste

The new issue of Paste has arrived at Barnes and Nobles, and one of the sample tracks in this issue is the song above. Anaïs Mitchell wrote this folk opera, called Hadestown, as a retelling of the Greek story of Orpheus. I bought the cd on Amazon almost immediately- found it for about ten bucks, which is not too shabby. I am already quite in love with the music: so rich and flavorful. The fact that this was recorded by Righteous Babe Records really says enough for it, as far as I’m concerned. If Ani DiFranco likes it, you know it’s gotta be good.

Paste is taking donations right now to keep afloat throughout the recession. The link below will take you there- this magazine really is a work of art, and it would be a shame to lose it. Check them out if you’re not familiar with the publication, and consider pitching in.
