The Holly and the Ivy by Mannheim Steamroller

One night when I was a child, I was afraid (can’t remember why now) and my older brother loaned me his headphones and this Mannheim Steamroller Christmas cd. This song became one of my most effective anti-anxiety measures for the duration of my teen years, and even now I find it soothing and warm. For the Monday before Christmas, I hope you’ll enjoy it too.

Thank you, Chip Davis.

Even after all these years, I still have no idea what “Mannheim Steamroller” means. I would google it if I hadn’t just run out of interest in the subject.

I did check it out. It’s a German term. A mannheim roller (or mannheim rocket) is a series of ascending broken chords from lowest bass to highest soprano. I think they added “steam” to roller just cause it sounds cool.

That’s very interesting…thanks for the info
